Simple Tree Pose

This is a balancing pose and balancing poses help with concentration and focus.

Begin in the mountain pose, and feel yourself rooted into the earth. Bring all of your weight onto one leg and feel it firmly planted. Gently raise the opposite leg a little, bending the knee, and resting the heel on the instep of the straight leg. (The more advanced practitioners may wish to bring the sole of the foot against the thigh of the straight leg) Inhale and raise the arms out to the side and/or overhead, perhaps bringing the hands together into cathedral pose. To maintain your balance, focus your gaze onto a point beyond you. Take long deep steady breaths Return to the mountain pose, and repeat on the opposite side.
